Itinerary
Tarangire National Park
Your exciting safari journey starts today as we pick you up from your hotel in or around Arusha. Enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive filled with stunning views of Tanzania’s landscapes, lush nature, and vibrant local communities.
Your first stop is Tarangire National Park, where you’ll embark on a full-day game drive. This park is renowned for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and unique tree-climbing African pythons, offering a true wildlife spectacle.
After an adventurous day, we’ll head to Africa Safari Rift Valley for an overnight stay. Before settling in, take a refreshing dip in the lodge’s swimming pool to unwind.
Ngorongoro Crater
Begin your day with an early wake-up and a fresh cup of coffee, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of Lake Manyara before breakfast. Once fueled for the day, we’ll set out for our next destination—the Ngorongoro Crater. Known as the world’s largest intact caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage site, sheltering over 30,000 large mammals within its natural boundaries.
The crater offers a unique and thriving ecosystem, providing a sanctuary for an array of wildlife, including the renowned Big Five—such as the elusive African Black Rhino—along with hyenas, zebras, elephants, and more. Experience an unforgettable game drive within this remarkable conservation area, soaking in its diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife.
As the day draws to a close, we’ll make our way to Ndutu in the South Serengeti, where you’ll spend the night at Africa Safari South Serengeti. This region is renowned for the calving season during the Great Migration, providing a chance to witness thousands of wildebeests and other herbivores welcoming their young—a remarkable natural event.
Serengeti National Park
On day three, we drive towards the iconic Serengeti National Park. After a few hours on the road, we’ll arrive at the park’s gate, where we’ll enjoy a scenic lunch before embarking on a thrilling game drive through this magnificent landscape.
The Serengeti is renowned for its diverse terrain, featuring both lush forest landscapes and the seemingly endless savannah plains. The park is world-famous for the Great Migration, during which around 1.5 million herbivores and their predators traverse the land in search of water—a breathtaking spectacle to witness.
As the day concludes, you’ll spend the night at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma. Ideally located between Serengeti Seronera, Grumeti, and Ikorongo Game Reserves, this retreat provides an excellent base for exploring the park. Relax in the evening as you observe birdlife, watch a herd of impala grazing peacefully nearby, or simply unwind while listening to the soothing sounds of the African wilderness.
Ikona Wildlife Management Area
Begin your day with an early morning game drive in the Ikona Wildlife Management Area. Spanning 242 square kilometers of unspoiled wilderness, Ikona supports a rich variety of wildlife. As you explore, keep an eye out for herds of elephants, waterbucks, and the striking black and white colobus monkeys. You may also spot the elusive leopard or encounter the majestic greater and lesser kudu roaming through the bush.
In the afternoon, we’ll switch gears and explore the area on foot with an experienced ranger, allowing you to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and scents of the African wilderness. A guided walking safari offers a unique and intimate perspective on the ecosystem, where your ranger will point out smaller wildlife, tracks, and native flora.
To end this incredible day, we’ll enjoy a sundowner in the African bush, watching the sun dip below the horizon while sipping a refreshing drink—a perfect way to reflect on the day’s adventures.
You’ll spend another night at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and the sounds of nature surrounding your comfortable accommodation.
Serengeti National Park
Today, we journey further north to continue our game drive in the Serengeti. During the migration season, there’s a chance to pass by the iconic Mara River, where you might witness one of nature’s most extraordinary events—thousands of wildebeest and other animals crossing the river. This dramatic spectacle is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the Great Migration in action.
In the evening, we’ll stay at Africa Safari Maasai Boma. True to its name, this unique accommodation is inspired by a traditional Maasai boma, offering an authentic cultural experience. You’ll be surrounded by the rich heritage of the Maasai people, as the lodge is located near the village of Ololosokwan. Although this area is not officially part of a game reserve or national park, wildlife sightings are still possible, adding to the immersive experience.
Lake Natron
After breakfast, we’ll set out for Lake Natron, leaving the northern Serengeti behind. The drive is a journey through remote and uncharted terrain, showcasing a landscape of stark, other-worldly beauty. This route traverses through untraveled Maasai lands, where you’ll pass small bomas and imposing mountains amidst a wild, cauterized landscape that evokes a deep sense of space and ancient times. Along the way, there’s an opportunity to stop and relax at a hot spring, offering a refreshing pause in this arid expanse.
Upon arrival, we’ll settle in at Africa Safari Lake Natron. This lodge seamlessly blends with its surroundings and offers breathtaking views of the nearby Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, a still-active volcano. Enjoy the stunning scenery from the lodge, and choose between a guided 10-minute walk to the lake or a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.
Lake Natron is renowned for hosting approximately two million flamingos from June to November, creating a mesmerizing pink spectacle along its shores.
Lake Natron – Lake Manyara
Start your morning with an adventurous hike to the nearby waterfalls, led by a knowledgeable local Maasai guide. Make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes, as the path may be uneven, adding to the excitement of this immersive experience. As you explore, you’ll pass through areas near several Maasai villages, providing an opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life and connection to the land.
After a morning of exploration, return for a well-deserved lunch before continuing your journey to Mto Wa Mbu. You’ll spend the night at Africa Safari Lake Manyara, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings after an active day.
Lake Manyara National Park
Today, we head to the stunning Lake Manyara National Park, known for its breathtaking panoramic views, cascading waterfalls, crystal-clear streams, and rejuvenating hot springs. The park offers a diverse and picturesque landscape, making it a perfect destination for a full-day game drive.
During the game drive, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter a variety of wildlife against the backdrop of Lake Manyara’s lush scenery. Keep an eye out for the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and an abundance of birdlife.
In the late afternoon, we’ll begin our drive back to Arusha, aiming to arrive before dinner, where your safari adventure will come to a close.
