Itinerary
Tarangire National Park
Your adventure kicks off today with a journey to Tarangire National Park, located just a two-hour drive from Arusha, Tanzania’s tourist capital. Named after the life-giving Tarangire River, this park is renowned for its incredible biodiversity and breathtaking landscapes. It is home to Africa’s largest elephant population and the second-largest population of lions, making it a prime destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
Throughout the park, you’ll find iconic baobab trees standing tall against the vast blue sky, creating stunning vistas and photo opportunities. After a day of wildlife exploration, we’ll head to Africa Safari Rift Valley, where you’ll stay overnight. Relax by taking a dip in the swimming pool and wind down with a sundowner drink at the bar, soaking in the tranquil ambiance of your surroundings.
Lake Manyara National Park
Despite its relatively small size of 325 square kilometers, Lake Manyara National Park is a hidden gem in Tanzania’s wildlife circuit. Nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Great Rift Valley, the park offers a diverse array of landscapes, including grassy floodplains, lush evergreen forests, acacia woodlands, and sparkling groundwater springs. The star attraction, Lake Manyara, is a shimmering alkaline lake that changes in size with the seasons and is renowned for its vibrant population of flamingos.
Spend your day exploring this picturesque park, where you can encounter a variety of wildlife and experience breathtaking views. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Africa Safari Lake Manyara to spend a nigh, enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings.
Serengeti National Park
On day three, we depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park. After a scenic drive of a few hours, we’ll arrive at one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserves. Known for its vast open plains and rich biodiversity, the Serengeti is home to a wide array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and more.
During our safari through the park, we’ll stop to observe various animals in their natural habitats, gaining a deeper understanding of their behaviors and lifestyles. Your guide will share insights into the challenges and threats these animals face in their natural environment, enriching your experience of this magnificent ecosystem.
As the sun sets, we’ll head to Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma, where you’ll spend the night, surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.
Ikoma Wildlife Management Area
Start your morning with an exciting game drive through the Ikoma Wildlife Management Area. Spanning 242 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, this area is teeming with diverse wildlife. As you explore, you may encounter herds of elephants, waterbucks, and the striking Black and White colobus monkeys. Keep your eyes open for the elusive leopard and the magnificent Greater and Lesser Kudu that roam these protected lands.
In the afternoon, switch to a walking safari led by an experienced ranger. This immersive experience allows you to explore the area on foot while learning about its fascinating wildlife, native plants, and geological features. Engage with your guide to gain insights into the rich biodiversity and hear stories about the local communities living near the Serengeti’s borders.
End the day with another night under the stars at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma, staying amidst the wild surroundings for a truly authentic African experience.
Serengeti National Park
Today, embark on another thrilling game drive in Serengeti National Park, where you can encounter every member of the Big Five. Each region of the Serengeti offers something special, and your guide is ready to tailor the day based on your interests. Whether you’re hoping to catch sight of elusive wild dogs, watch rhinos grazing near the iconic Kopjes, or witness the heart-pounding chase of big cats hunting their prey, the Serengeti promises an unforgettable experience.
In the late afternoon, we’ll journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As the day winds down, we’ll continue to Ndutu in the South Serengeti, where you’ll spend the night at Africa Safari South Serengeti. This area is renowned for the Great Migration’s calving season, an incredible natural spectacle where thousands of wildebeests give birth to their young—a true highlight of Tanzania’s annual wildlife phenomena.
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you’ll head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the iconic Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive with a picnic lunch. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this vast, bowl-shaped crater is actually a caldera, formed two to three million years ago when a massive volcanic eruption caused the volcano to collapse in on itself.
Today, this “flat pan” is a lush grassland that supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife. The crater is home to the endangered black rhino, prides of lions, impressive elephants, and a variety of smaller game. Thanks to the area’s elevated terrain, the region enjoys consistent rainfall year-round, reducing the need for seasonal animal migrations. This means that with a bit of luck, you may have the opportunity to spot all members of the Big Five in a single game drive.
After a thrilling day of wildlife viewing, you’ll return to Arusha and spend the night at Africa Safari Arusha, where you can rest and reflect on your incredible journey.
Stone Town / Shaba Boutique Hotel
After breakfast, your driver will take you to the small Arusha Airport, where you’ll board a domestic flight to the tropical island of Zanzibar. The flight lasts about 80 minutes, offering you aerial views of Tanzania’s diverse landscapes. Upon arrival, our local staff will greet you at Zanzibar Airport and transport you to your accommodation.
You’ll be staying at the Shaba Boutique Hotel, a charming property situated in a historic building in the heart of Stone Town. This beautifully preserved area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its winding alleys, vibrant markets, and stunning colonial Arabic architecture.
In the afternoon or the following morning, take time to explore Stone Town. Wander through its narrow streets and experience the rich history and culture that define this captivating city. Highlights to visit include the former Slave Market and its Anglican Cathedral, the House of Wonders, and the ancient Arab Fort—each offering a glimpse into Zanzibar’s storied past.
Southeast Zanzibar / Reef & Beach Resort
The following day, we’ll transport you to the beautiful Reef & Beach Resort, located on the serene southeastern coast of Zanzibar. This spacious holiday complex boasts over 600 meters of beachfront, offering pristine white sands and clear blue waters.
